| Valerian History and Research The use of Valerian has been traced back to Hippocrates in the 5th century BC. It has since been widely used to treat insomnia, anxiety, nervous disorders, mood elevation and fybromyalgia. In 29 clinical studies Valerian has been shown to be effective and without the hang-over side effects and potential addiction associated with phamaceutical sleep aids. Valerian may interact with alcohol, barbituates or benzodiaepines (relaxants), though this has not been demonstrated in the clinical studies. |
