New Turmeric Capsules.
Turmeric is the yellow spice used in curry and mustard and is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine as a cleansing tonic and adaptogenic herb. Areas with diets high in Turmeric have significantly lower rates of breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer and colon cancer. This "cousin" of ginger root is also effective against arthritis and inflammation, and new research is giving a scientific basis to the herb's many health benefits. See full research and uses below.

Turmeric Research and Medical Uses:
New Research!: Turmeric was recently the subject of a startling new research report from at The M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. In the study, turmeric was shown to stop metastasis, the progression of breast cancer, to the lungs and lymph nodes. Follow-up studies are in progress.
A recent article by Dr. Andrew Weil states:
-"People whose diets are rich in turmeric have lower rates of breast cancer as well as prostate, lung and colon cancers."
-"Turmeric is useful for all inflammatory disorders and for autoimmune conditions. It also may have a role in prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's."
-"My preference is for whole turmeric, rather than isolated curcumin, because I believe in the synergy of all active elements in botanical medicines."
An article "Turmeric" by Jacqueline Strax states:
"In Japan this year researchers defined curcumin as a broad-spectrum anti-cancer agent. Its induction of "detoxifying enzymes," the researchers say, indicate its "potential value ... as a protective agent against chemical carcinogenesis and other forms of electrophilic toxicity. The significance of these results can be implicated in relation to cancer chemopreventive effects of curcumin against the induction of tumours in various target organs"
"Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties of turmeric and curcumin are undergoing intense research. Tests in Germany, reported July 2003,found that "All fractions of the turmeric extract preparation exhibited pronounced antioxidant activity...."
"Several breast tumor cell lines, "including hormone-dependent and -independent and multidrug-resistant (MDR) lines," respond to antiproliferative effects of curcumin. Aggarwal et al examined cell lines "including the MDR-positive ones," and found they were all "highly sensitive to curcumin. The growth inhibitory effect of curcumin was time- and dose-dependent.... Overall our results suggest that curcumin is a potent antiproliferative agent for breast tumor cells and may have potential as an anticancer agent." (Anticancer Drugs. 1997 Jun;8(5):470-81). Other laboratories offer varying explanations but confirm the activity level of curcumin against breast , prostate and other cancers."
M.D. Andersons scientists state: "Extensive research over the last 50 years has indicated [curcumin] can both prevent and treat cancer. The anticancer potential of curcumin stems from its ability to suppress proliferation of a wide variety of tumor cells, down-regulate transcription factors NF-kappa B, AP-1 and Egr-1; down-regulate the expression of COX2, LOX, NOS, MMP-9, uPA, TNF, chemokines, cell surface adhesion molecules and cyclin D1; down-regulate growth factor receptors (such as EGFR and HER2); and inhibit the activity of c-Jun N-terminal kinase, protein tyrosine kinases and protein serine/threonine kinases."

Devil's Claw for Pain Relief
Great news for pain sufferers who have grown dependent on pain killers for relief: recently published double blind studies have shown that Devil's Claw can relieve pain from arthritis in as little as ten days of use*, lower back, knee and hip pain included. It is also used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, bursitis, tendonitis and soft tissue pain (muscle aches).
Since studies have shown no side effects, even at very high doses, Devil's claw can be an alternative for those taking over-the-counter pain medications such as Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen, which can cause liver and stomach problems. Devil's claw can be a healthier approach to treating joint pain.
Devil's Claw has been a popular inti-inflammatory and arthritis treatment since is was first discovered in South Africa by European colonists in the 18th century. It is still quite common in Europe today but is not well known in the U.S. The exciting new research (see below) should help to publicize this healthy herb. *Devil's Claw Notes and Research Studies:
-Devil's claw is approved as a nonprescription medicine by the German Commission E, an expert panel of physicians and pharmacists who advise Germany's counterpart of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Approved uses of devil's claw include loss of appetite, digestive disorders, and "degenerative disorders of the locomotor system" (i.e., to treat pain and inflammation in the joints).
-A new clinical study shows that a traditional African medicinal herb may reduce pain associated with osteoarthritis as effectively as some conventional drugs. In a randomized, double-blind, parallel group study conducted in France, the patients received either capsules containing the herb devil's claw or a pharmaceutical drug. Pain measurements of all patients indicated that those taking the herb and the drug experienced similar benefits. However, the study also showed that patients taking the herb experienced significantly fewer adverse side effects than those taking the drug.
Mark Blumenthal, founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council, a nonprofit research and education organization, "At least two previous clinical trials on devil's claw have supported its use as an aid in treating lower back pain and rheumatic conditions. This study is significant in that it is the first to show the potential benefits of devil's claw for osteoarthritis."

Breast Enhancement Tips and Tricks.
First, the most important things:
-Be consistent. Try not to miss a lot of doses or take time off, particularly in the first month or so.
-Gradually increase your doses. The amount of the herbs needed can vary quite a lot from person to person due to metabolism, genetics, diet or hormone levels. Up your doses a little each week or two if you aren't seeing results.
-Do the massage. This increases circulation in the breasts and absorption of the nutrients. And it adds nutrients to the breast tissue through the skin, which by-passes your metabolism.
-Diet can be a factor. You may read a lot of different things about how certain vitamins and minerals help, but basically a good, well rounded diet is the best. It will eliminate the possibility that a nutritional deficiency is effecting your results. Whole grains such as oats, wheat and barley are helpful. Soy can also give you a boost. Fruits and vegetables are always good and the hops in beer and ale as well as the flavenoids in chocolate provide a boost of the right nutrients in your system.
-There are hundreds of herbs that contain some of the correct nutrients, but the ones that we suggest contain the highest amounts. You don't need exotic sounding herbs, which often have little safety research, or things such as bovine ovary.
-Fenugreek and Fennel are very similar herbs. You don't have to use both, though you can if you like, for variety.
As always, keep us posted on your progress. We are always here to help.
